 Vampires… they probably the most overdone concept right next to zombies and superheroes. Does Mark Millar stick the landing with his new vampire comic “Vatican City”, or does it kick my ass into wanting to read something else? Let’s chat. First, if you don’t know Mark Millar, he’s known for writing Kick-Ass, Marvel Civil War, Super Crooks, Old Man Logan, Jupiter’s Legacy, Nemesis, and a lot more comics. I’m a fan of Mr. Millar. He’s written a handful of my favorite comics, like Kick-Ass. I also want to mention that I was kindly given an early review copy from Mr. Millar himself and am extremely grateful that he was kind enough to give a review copy to a new reviewer without an audience… thank you. 13 years ago after his New 52 series ended, the resurrection man has returned. I just finished reading Resurrection Man #1 and... Yeah, this run is going to be awesome. If you don’t know what his powers are, basically, when he dies he comes back to life with a new power that has to do with how he died. So, if he died in a fire he gets fire powers. Dies falling out of a plane, he wakes with the power to fly. He is an awesome cult classic character from the 90s created by writers Andy Lanning and Dan Abentt and artists Jackson Guice back in 1997. I haven’t read the original runs, but I’ve seen him pop through the DC multiverse. but I’ve got to say this comic is awesome. It’s raw, badass storytelling with some very interesting and captivating art. The art is not clean marvel boilerplate art, and I love that about this comic. Film companies realized they could make more money by making reboots and sequels to existing IPs. I think to be fair, comics did it first and still do it to this day… That brings us to Deadpool Kills The Marvel Universe One Last Time. Now, you’d probably assume by my opening statement that I hate reboots and pointless sequels that try to pull you in through the appealing nature of nostalgia, and you’d be right. HOWEVER, occasionally, there are times when the reboot is fun, even if it isn't necessarily warranted. Deadpool kills the Marvel Universe one last time is that occasional fun time. When I first saw the book pop up on my feed, I had one question. Was it going to be good, or was it just a way to monetize off the success of the game, be filled with a bunch of advertisements, and be nothing of substance?  Well, all I have to say is… Did you hear there is a spider-verse multiverse role-playing game? Yeah, it was the latter.  In the age of constant barge of slop being thrown into the troff of entertainment to feed us the pigs… Marvel Rivals one-shot comic book was just another scoop thrown in. There is no heart, no passion, it just feels like they went through the motions to make some “content” just to throw something out. The “story” is about two teams of heroes fighting against each other in a random world-ending event. I did not follow along even though it was painfully spelled out to me by the narrator Galacta. Man, Old Man Logan was fantastic. Now we’ve got Old Man Daredevil. Will it hold up? Well, here are my thoughts so far. Okay, so daredevil cold day in hell number one. What’s it about? Well, after a horrific series of events, of which the specific details are scarce, things are looking bleak. Like there are many more unhoused people in New York way more than normal. Matt Murdock is old, and his powers have faded to nothing. He has a little bit of his skill left, but he’s basically just a normal blind guy. Without spoilers I want to say my one-word impression of issue number one, and that is: Hell-Yeah. Yes, hell-yeah is one word in my book. So this series is made by Charles Soule, and Steven McNiven. I have read a few titles in the Absolute series, and I’ve been really enjoying them, and so far… absolute Green Lantern #1… this is … and I hate to say it… is the weakest one I’ve read so far. Absolute Green Lantern is the 5th title in the absolute universe. It looks great, and there are a few great spreads. The dialogue is good, and it’s written well. However, where Batman and Superman are seen as badass alternate and interesting versions of their character, Hal Jordan is the exact opposite. My adverse reaction might stem from the fact that I expected them to follow the same pattern as Batman and Superman. And maybe that's not fair on my part, but sometimes, being different is good. I think the two biggest differences between the Batman and Superman title and Absolute Green Lanter is the definitive style/personality for the main character. I walked through the booths and landed on a table from creator Tony McMillen. I picked up the book Lumen. The art drew me in instantly. As I flipped through the pages, I saw something unique and charming.  Let’s talk about the good: It’s an interesting concept, a fantastical world, art that speaks for itself. If it was just an art book, it’d still be worth the $20 I spent. I can say that McMillen knows how to end a chapter. Which is impressive to me. It’s always the most challenging thing to do. The book feels like a modern-day mythic storybook, though the tone wavers throughout.
