Well, all I have to say is… Did you hear there is a spider-verse multiverse role-playing game?
Yeah, it was the latter.
In the age of constant barge of slop being thrown into the troff of entertainment to feed us the pigs… Marvel Rivals one-shot comic book was just another scoop thrown in.
There is no heart, no passion, it just feels like they went through the motions to make some “content” just to throw something out. The “story” is about two teams of heroes fighting against each other in a random world-ending event. I did not follow along even though it was painfully spelled out to me by the narrator Galacta. I can’t even tell you how it ended because I was so disappointed I just stopped reading like 10 pages from the end.
I think the thing that just got under my skin was the constant Marvel movie-style quips that every single character had to shout off, even if they aren’t really comedic characters. Every single character blends into one person, with few changes in inflection/style/tone.
I guess it can all be wrapped up by saying this comic was safe, stale, or sterile. However, I did have to look up one word in the dictionary, and that was “Deigned,” so that was nice. I like learning new things… but was it worth $7? or whatever I paid for it. No.
My rating is:
Skip it. Go buy a coffee or go buy Daredevil Cold Day In Hell #1 book.
